ARTIST STATEMENT
A fifth generation coastal Oregonian, Steve Esterby has lived his life amid the forests and beaches that provide the materials and inspiration for his wood carvings.
During the twenty-two years he worked as a logger in Alaska, Steve developed an admiration for the artistry and spirit of native carvings. Along with Buddha statues, this imagery has influenced his artistic path. He crafts his Raven Story Teller series in his own distinctive and tactile style, inviting us to take part in the narrative of each piece.
